Counter Insurgency | Indonesia | Pakistan
Report | January 29, 2009 | 23 pages
Presented to the Center for Strategic and International Studies, this presentation examines the components of extremism, state capacities, and policy implications in Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Indonesia. Working together in 2006, Craig Charney and Professor Arnold Saltzman of Columbia University develop methods to evaluate and compare support for extremism, government, and counter-terrorism between these three countries. General findings show that Pakistan has lower support for governance and a lower rejection against extremism, while Indonesia has higher support for governance and a higher rejection against extremism.
